Categories group related products so customers can browse and so you can map to each marketplace’s required taxonomy.

Creating categories

Go to Catalog → Categories and click New category. Categories can nest — create a parent (e.g. Lifts) and children (Scissor Lifts, Boom Lifts).

Why categories matter for channels

Marketplaces require every listing to sit in their own category tree. A clean internal structure makes mapping fast and consistent. See Listing mapping.

💡 Tip: Keep your tree shallow — two or three levels is usually enough.
