A variant is a version of a product — a size, color, or configuration. Variants share the parent’s title, description, and media, but each has its own SKU, price, and inventory.
When to use variants vs. separate products
Use a variant when items are the same product in different options (a jacket in S/M/L). Use separate products when items differ enough that a shopper wouldn’t see them as one listing.
Adding variants
From a product’s detail page, open the Variants tab, define the option(s), and add a row per combination. Each variant needs its own unique SKU.
⚠️ Warning: Channels map at the variant/SKU level, not the parent level. Make sure every variant has a real SKU before listing.
