Welcome emails

The two emails every popup signup receives β€” and how to customize them in the template editor.

Every signup through the popup triggers two emails, seconds apart: a general welcome to the store, then a dedicated email carrying their personal coupon code. Both are fully customizable per store.

# Email Template When it sends
1 Welcome Email welcome_email The moment the account is created (any signup β€” popup, checkout, or account page)
2 Welcome Reward Code welcome_reward The moment their personal code is minted (popup signups with a reward only)

The reward email shows the shopper’s name, the code in a large easy-to-read box, the discount (β€œ15% off”), and the expiry date. Because every code is unique and account-locked, each email is personal β€” there’s no shared code to leak.

Editing the templates

Both live in the template editor at Notifications β†’ Templates (/dashboard/dealer/settings/templates), under Customer Emails.

  1. Open the template β€” find Welcome Email or Welcome Reward Code and click in.
  2. Edit the pieces β€” Subject Line, From Name / From Email / Reply To (blank = your store defaults), and the body in the HTML and Plain Text tabs.
  3. Watch the preview β€” the right-hand pane renders live with sample data; toggle Desktop / Mobile.
  4. Save Changes.

ℹ️ Note: There’s no test-send β€” the live preview is your check. For a true end-to-end test, sign up through your own popup with a personal email (use an incognito window; see the Signup popup testing tip).

Variables you can use

Click Variables in the editor to see (and copy) everything available. The reward email’s key variables:

Variable Renders as
{{first_name}} The shopper’s first name β€” wrap it in {{#if first_name}}…{{/if}} for a fallback greeting
{{code}} The personal coupon code, e.g. WELCOME-F3S79U
{{discount_label}} The offer, pre-formatted: 15% off or $10.00 off
{{ends_at}} Expiry timestamp β€” format it with {{formatDate ends_at "January 2, 2006"}}

Supported helpers: {{#if variable}}…{{/if}}, {{#each items}}…{{/each}}, {{formatCurrency amount "USD"}}, {{formatDateTime date}}.

⚠️ Warning: Use {{discount_label}} for the offer text β€” don’t run the raw discount value through formatCurrency (it’s built for order amounts and will misread coupon values).

Sender identity & deactivation

  • Both emails send from your Sales sender identity β€” configure addresses in Settings β†’ Email Settings; a per-template From/Reply-To override wins when set.
  • The Active toggle at the top of the editor turns an email off entirely. Deactivating the reward email means popup signups only see their code on screen β€” not recommended once the popup is live.
  • The welcome email skips guest-checkout account stubs automatically β€” only real signups get greeted.
