Website Builder overview

What the visual page builder is, and how pages, blocks, and your theme fit together.

Your storefront is built from pages, each page is a stack of blocks, and every block is painted by your theme. The Website Builder is where you assemble those blocks visually — with a live preview of your real store — without touching code.

The three pieces

  • Pages — every URL on your site (home, category, brand, and any custom page). Pages are managed under Dashboard → Pages.
  • Blocks — the building units you stack to make a page: heroes, product grids, galleries, FAQs, forms, and dozens more. See the Block library.
  • Theme — your global colors, fonts, spacing, header, and footer. Blocks inherit the theme automatically, so a color change in one place updates the whole site. See Theme & Branding.

💡 Tip: You rarely start from a blank page. Most pages begin from a template and you edit the blocks that are already there.

Two ways to edit blocks

There are two editors, and they share the exact same fields:

  1. The visual page builder (recommended) — a full-screen editor with a sections list, a live preview of your store, and a settings panel. Open it with the Open Editor button on any page. This is what the rest of these guides cover.
  2. The inline editor — a simpler stacked list of blocks lower down on the page’s settings screen. Same fields, no live preview. Handy for quick text edits.

What you can do

  • Add, reorder, duplicate, and remove blocks.
  • Edit each block’s content and, where it has images, control how they crop (Image controls).
  • Fine-tune a single block’s look with Appearance and Theme Overrides without changing your global theme (Appearance & Theme Overrides).
  • Preview every change live, then save.
